Carol and Janell began collaborating in 2013 on wearable clay art jewelry. Their mutual creations begin with Janell’s fired pieces of clay onto which Carol paints fantastic creatures, unusually colorful images, or delicate allusions to Nature. These images are inspired by the oriental aesthetic, sumi-e brush painting, eastern and western calligraphy, and manuscript illumination. Carol's media include mica powders and sumi ink (each ground with a base), Yuzen papers, and 22-24 karat gold leaf, all of which have a unique vibrancy on porcelain. Janell then elaborates on these mini paintings by designing perfectly choreographed chains of beads and materials to create one-of-a-kind wearable works of art.
Earrings are available for each necklace in wonderful matching painted pieces or color and character matching beads and components.
Jewelry sets are available at a discounted rate for the purchase of both a necklace and a pair of earrings. Enjoy!
